Morning Knights Hockey Fans –

According to our website we have 53 days and 11 hours until our first game. The Blue Line Board met last evening and started putting the final touches on what should be an exciting season of KNIGHTS Hockey.

ADS –

They’re coming in at good clip – THANKS! – Please remember to attach a Sponsor sheet to each ad, it assists us in tracking who sold it and it will assist others down the road. REMEMBER ALL ADS ARE DUE BY OCTOBER 22ND. Also, please make every effort to collect the funds when you sell the ad. If you have made contact with businesses assigned to you and they have decided not to support the KNIGHTS please let Dawn Stimmler know.

CAPTAINS PRACTICE –

It starts up 3 weeks from Monday on October 29th at the Super Rink from 3:30 until 5. Please get your release form and ice fee turned in to Kathy Jereczek. We can not allow anyone on the ice without the fee paid and release form turned in.

 TEAM PICTURES –

We have a tentative date of Thursday November 22nd set for team pictures. Due to popular demand we will also do a team poster again this season.

SENIOR DAY –

The board with the assistance of players has decided to move SENIOR DAY to Saturday afternoon February 16th against St. Louis Park. This will be our final regular season game. The decision was made after our great announcer Kirk Possehl informed us that he would not be able to announce our game on February 2nd.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST –

Our first fundraiser pancake breakfast is November 10th at Applebees in St. Anthony from 8 – 10 am. PLEASE GET YOUR TICKETS SOLD AND MONEY TURNED IN. Applebees will be looking for estimate of how many to plan for a week before the breakfast.  We will ask all returning lettermen to work the breakfast. Parents, we will need your help as well to assist and supervise. If you can help out please let me know.

SUNDAY KNIGHT ICE –

We have 4 weeks remaining of Sunday KNIGHT ice. The turnout has been good. If you have not paid for the ice time please get this taken care of immediately.

BLUE LINE BOARD DISCUSSION and ACTION --

  • Budget was reviewed and discussed – we are anticipating approximately $24700 in revenue and $22800 in expenses. The board will send a financial statement out to the group next week. If you are interested in reviewing our budget or any other aspect of our finances please contact any board member.
  • Dawn Stimmler is setting up 2 Youth Days – the first is December 8th and the second is January 12th.
  • Tryout roster was reviewed – we are anticipating about 44 players to tryout
  • Dawn Stimmler will make contact with local television to televise some home games.
  • The board has approved payment to Kirk Possehl to announce JV and Varsity games
  • Approval was made to purchase magnets with our schedule on it.
  • Update on our new jerseys – our new gold jersey’s should be here next week – lettering will take a few days and we should have them ready for the season
  • As many of you know our equipment bags are in very rough shape – Between the school and the Blue Line Club we are planning to replace the players equipment bags. Cost will be $40 per bag with $5 charge to embroider the players number on the bag. The savings per bag is approximately $30 from retail price.
  • The team schedule was reviewed – buses have been ordered for the Hutchinson scrimmage as well as our trips to Virginia. Hotel reservations for the team have been made as well.
  • Pucks have been donated from Dave’s Sporting Goods for our CHUCK-A-PUCK. Once the players get done using them at our Sunday KNIGHT ice we will number them and have them ready for our home games.
  • Final payment was approved for our Sunday KNIGHT ice.
  • We are discussing Team apparel with a couple of vendors and plan to have something available in the next couple of weeks for players and fans to order.
  • There was a discussion with regard to our second fundraiser. Currently the plan was to have a second pancake breakfast at Moe’s in January. It was suggested that maybe we should have a pasta feed – we will explore this option as well.
  • The Blue Line Club has also purchased 48 practice pullovers (penes) that the coaches requested.
  • The board also discussed the year end banquet. We started looking at dates to make sure we did not have a conflict with Irondale’s Baseball trip to Florida.

That’s it for now – As always, if you have any thoughts, concerns, ideas or questions please let me know.

GO KNIGHTS!

Regards

Jerry
